Indonesia coach Shin Tae-yong "wants to meet Korea in the quarterfinals"

The Indonesian national football team, led by head coach Shin Tae-yong, will face the 'Socceroos' in the round of 16 at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) 2023 Qatar Asian Cup.

The Indonesians will kick off their round of 16 campaign against the Socceroos at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar on June 28.

Head coach Shin Tae-yong shared his thoughts on the round of 16 match against Australia at a press conference on the 27th, one day before the match.

According to Indonesia's CNN, Shin said, "Honestly, it's hard to beat Australia. I think we have a 30 percent chance of winning because Australia has overwhelming power. We (Indonesia) are ranked 146th in the FIFA rankings, and Australia is ranked 25th," he said, adding, "I think it will be difficult to hit a rock with an egg, but we will do our best."

"We are constantly analyzing how to deal with the Australian defense and how to break it down," he said, adding that one mistake could decide the outcome of the match.

If Shin Tae-yong's side can beat the Aussies and advance to the quarterfinals, they could face Jürgen Klinsmann's South Korea national team. Klinsmann's side will face Saudi Arabia, who top Group F. If they manage to beat the Saudis, they will face Shin Tae-yong, who was their head coach at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

"I think there is a 60 percent chance that South Korea will beat Saudi Arabia, and I hope we can play them in the quarterfinals," Shin said.

Indonesia was drawn in Group D with Iraq, Japan, and Vietnam. After a 1-3 loss to Iraq in the first round, they beat Vietnam 1-0 in the second round. With a 1-1 record, they kept their chances of advancing to the round of 16 alive and faced 'favorites' Japan in their final group game.

There was some speculation that a shaky Japan could pull off an upset, but they fell 1-3, finishing the group stage with one win, two losses, and three points. With the top 토토사이트 four teams from the tournament's three groups advancing to the round of 16, Indonesia was the last team to qualify for the Asian Cup tournament as Group A China and Group F Oman finished with two draws, one loss and two points.

Indonesia's Round of 16 opponent, Australia, is one of the favorites to win the tournament, along with South Korea, Japan, and Iran. The Socceroos qualified for the round of 16 with two wins and a draw in Group B, beating India and Syria.

To date, Indonesia has one win, three draws, and 11 losses in 15 games against Australia. This will be their first meeting at the Asian Cup.
